Nepal’s new constitution draft reverses on aspirations of marginalized groups on inclusion

Nepal‬‘s new constitution‬ draft reverses on many achievements made in the aspirations of marginalized populations, such as inclusion‬ and‪ equality‬, among others.

Interim Constitution already provides for right to participation of marginalized groups (indigenouspeoples‬, Madhesi‬, Dalits‬, Muslims‬‪‎women‬, etc) in all organs of state structure on the basis of proportional inclusion. However, the new constitution draft limits such right to inclusion, including for dominant Khas-Arya groups as well (meaning among five positions in a state mechanism, if one is appointed from a marginalized group, it will suffice)
